Yes, my office is handicapped-accessible, and the restrooms on the same floor outside the office also are.
What are my office hours?
Monday-Thursday from 8 am – 8 pm
Friday from 8 am to noon
How long is a typical session?
Sessions are typically 52 minutes.
What do I do to get started?
This consultation is a time to answer any of your questions and serves as an ice-breaker to increase your comfort level. It is a time for you to tell me information that you think I need to know, so we can determine if we will be a good fit for each other.
You also can schedule an appointment for a time and day that best fits our mutual schedules.
You may cancel or reschedule an appointment by these same methods, but please do so with 24-hour notification to avoid a late cancellation fee.
Do you accept insurance and how does that work?
To determine if you have mental health coverage through your insurance carrier, the first thing you do is call them.
I have a Verification of Insurance form that will help you enter your insurance information that you will need to bring to your first visit.
Check your coverage carefully and make sure you understand answers to these questions: What are my mental health benefits, what is the coverage amount per therapy session, how many sessions does my plan cover, how much is paid for an out-of-network provider, and is approval required from my primary care physician?
You will be expected to make payment at each session. If I am credentialed with your insurance company, my biller will submit your payment information or bill to your insurance company.
Once your deductible and copays are determined by my biller and I am notified, I will let you know if we need to make any adjustments.
If you do not have insurance or if I am considered out of network by your insurance company, you will be asked to pay for the session. I will provide you with a Super Bill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement or toward your deductible.
Who do I work with?
I work with men and women, individuals and couples, adolescents, college-age, young adults, and the aged.
What can I expect at the first session?
I will need a copy of your insurance card and a credit card that remains on file for your copayments.
To put you at ease, I will give you a brief introduction about myself, followed by asking you a few introductory questions about you as well.
Then, we will begin to obtain your history and what brings you in to see me.
How do you determine who you will see?
While I am widely trained to see a variety of clients for many diagnoses, I am required to practice within my realm of expertise. If I feel that I am not the best person to help you, I will do my best to refer you to someone better qualified.

Is our work confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is one of the most important components between the client and therapist. Therapy requires a high level of trust with sensitive subject matter that is not normally discussed anywhere but the therapist’s office.
Client and therapist sign a confidentiality disclosure agreement, and you can expect that your information will not be shared.
However, sometimes you may desire that your information or an update be given to someone on your healthcare team; by law, I cannot release this information without your written permission on a Release of Information form.
State law and professional ethics require therapists to maintain confidentiality except for the following situations: suspected past or present abuse or neglect of children, adults, and elders. In such cases, I am required to notify the authorities, including Child Protection and law enforcement, based on information provided by the client or collateral sources.
If I have reason to suspect the client is seriously in danger of harming him/herself or has threatened to harm another person, I’m am also required to report.

Sometimes couples do have conflict in my office.
Do you take sides during couples therapy?
I am not able to take sides in a disagreement and must remain impartial, while facilitating the couple through the conflict to reach a healthy resolution.

After completing two years with an agency, I opened my own practice in January 2019.

Yes, I do take brief notes in session to track progress, such as what is concerning you, etc.

I enjoy seeing clients make desired changes, achieve their goals, and become more adept in relationships through learning and practicing helpful techniques.

Is your furniture comfortable?
Clients seem to think so. To make my office have a home-like feel, I have a comfy couch; blankets (if you get cold); pillows to hug; and a mini bar with coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or cider, water, tissues, etc.
Do you prescribe medications?
No, I am not able to prescribe medications; if I feel it may be helpful, I may suggest that you see your family physician.
